Owner of a malnourished dog in critical state charged on the presumption of animal abuse in Castellón

An animal protector association alerted SEPRONA [Service for the Protection of Nature] of the Civil Guard of Segorbe (Castellón) that it had found an approximately two year old dog in a state of severe malnutrition with a very critical clinical state: cachexia, shock, hair-loss produced by mange, leishmania and rickettsia, among other illnesses. The animal had been in this state for four months, with its life at risk for lacking food in recent days.

The Civil Guard has charged the dog’s owner as the presumed perpetrator of a crime against flora, fauna and domestic animals. The findings have been delivered to District Court Number 1 of Segorbe.
