Man fined 1200 Euros for a crime of animal abuse for amputating the ears of a puppy

On 8 May of this year, some residents of Mataró found an abandoned Pit Bull, injured and with mutilated ears. After the investigation carried out on the 13th, the local police detained the author of the events, a resident of the town with mental problems.

After the arrest, the Court charged him with presumed animal abuse, leading to a Prompt Trial. The Prosecutor’s Office requested a prison sentence of four months, after recognizing the events and the agreement by the author, the punishment was substituted for a fine of eight months of a daily quota of five years (€1,200), plus the costs of veterinary treatment.
