The Government clarifies that it will not prohibit the sale of dogs and cats in shops

Related with the Draft of the Pre-Project for the Law which will regulate the basic characteristics of the trade and ownership of dogs and cats in Spain, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Supply and the Environment has clarified that the Government is not going to prohibit the sale of dogs and cats in pet shops, although they will establish some conditions so that their purchase is done in a responsible manner and not impulsively.

The text of this draft collected among its dispositions the prohibition of “the sale of animals in pet shops, as well as their exhibition in public for commercial goals”.
