Animal abuse in Mexican circus. Fine and seizure by the Public Prosecutor for the environment

The owner of ‘Harley Circus’, in the town of Dzidzantún (Yucatán) has been fined by the Mexican Environmental Public Prosecutor (PROFEPA) for animal abuse, after confirming that the circus did not have an animal handling plan, lacked the legal documentation for a black bear, a Bengal tiger and three spider monkeys, and that these animals presented evident states of abuse.

The lower jaw of the black bear had been removed, the tiger presented dysfunction in its extremities and the lion did not have claws or canine teeth, which had also been removed from the three spider monkeys.
