The new students have just arrived for this 9th edition of the Master in Derecho animal y Sociedad.
On Monday, the students discovered and/or consolidated their legal bases thanks to the "curso propedéutico" given by Professor Laure Gisie.
This module introduces you to the different legal systems around the world. A good lawyer must know the differences between Civil Law and Common Law.
The students were able to deepen their knowledge of international law and the law of the European Union and to understand different branches and sources of law.
On Tuesday, Professor Irene Jiménez and Doctor José Antonio Jiménez Buendía strengthened the students' legal bases with a course on "Vocabulary and Institutions".
Law is a technical science. Students must understand the vocabulary and the functioning of the institutions in order to be able to understand the Master more serenely.
On Wednesday, it was the turn of criminal law with Dr. Mª José Rodríguez Puerta.
The Penal Code is a very useful tool for protecting animals. It punishes serious abuse and cruelty to domestic animals or animals tamed or held in captivity.
However, the criminal law is deficient and some animals are not protected, and prosecutions are still too rare.
On Thursdays, the new students were able to attend the Master's presentation with the presence of Dra. Teresa Giménez-Candela, Director of the Master and Marga, secretary of the Master. The Master in Animal Law is pioneered in Europe.
Every year, it attracts students from all over the world to train in professions to help animals.
Mr. Joan Melcion came to present the services of the UAB language school which allows them to enrich his knowledge, test their skills and obtain certifications.
The day ended with a guided tour of the UAB library by Mrs. Elisa Campos.
