This Master is not only a course in which you go to class and listen to the explanations from some professors. Actually, I would say it is an experience. It is focused on a very wide audience, so the training is less concrete than in other masters or similar courses that I have studied, but everything is focused on animal welfare and there are several classes on legislation that I could take advantage of. Also, the classes on veterinary and welfare at the biological level were very beneficial for my growth as an activist and as a professional.

The master has some teachers that have done so much for animals worldwide, with such an inspiring message of hope and how with work we can make a difference in the lifes of millions of animals. The monthly assignemnts helped in getting deeper in the class subjects, as well as the thesis which contributed a lot to my current knowledge about animal law. I recommend it to anyone from any área if interested in making life for animals better since the subjects inside the master are so vast and Deep anyone can find its own place.

This Master is unique from three points of view: scientific, ethic and legal. This interdisciplinary approach is fundamental to understand the complex issues related to animals and take actions in their interest. The strength of this Master consists in its rigorous program taught by professors and experts coming from all over the world. The researches carried out during the course enhance knowledge and analytical skills, while the internship offers the opportunity to deal with real life challenges.

The Master in Animal Law and Society of the UAB is an incredibly formative experience, both from an academic and professional point of view, as well as from a personal one. No other master gives you the opportunity to meet the founders and “gurus” of the animal law movement and exchange experiences and views with top-notch professionals, academics, and activists from the field.

Applying for the Animal Law and Society Master meant complying with my long wanted official and international specialisation in the field of law I was most passionate about: Animal Law. I felt I would be more suitably prepared while working and speaking on behalf of defenseless animals. Leaving your common breadwinner life behind to start something new, moving against the tide, takes great courage but I can say it was a turning point in my life and one of the best decisions I made.

The Master – one of the only of its kind – was a brilliant opportunity to gain an excellent understanding of the current treatment of animals in the realms of law, philosophy, ethics, environmental and behavioural sciences, and other disciplines. The topics covered by the Master were diverse and in-depth, with expert teaching and focused, accessible resources.
