Can I feed the cats which live in the street?

This topic has been considered in municipal ordinances with regards to the ownership of animals in each locality. (Search in the database, level 2, the Ordinances dictated in provincial capitals in the Spanish state). Some ordinances prohibit supplying food to cats that live on the street and others approve them if they meet certain sanitary conditions. An alternative is to create controlled colonies of cats and get in contact with the Municipal Government to alert the authorities of the animals’ existence, so that the cats can be cared for and fed appropriately. Municipal Governments are responsible for collecting and controlling abandoned, lost or stray animals. (Search in the database: “animal collection”). The responsibility for this situation belongs to the Public Administration so that the animals are not permitted to die of hunger. If not, the authorities must provide help to citizens to create stable colonies, as already exist in certain cities.
