In 2019, a symposium on "Food and Law. A Comparative Perspective" took place in Parma (Italy). Roma Tre University, Department of Law, has recently published the proceedings in two volumes. The second volume includes seventeen works on food and intellectual property, international trade, food education, innovation, food safety, food security and sustainable development. Although they are sentient beings, animals are raised, slaughtered and consumed as food. The last three contributions examine this issue with a particular focus on animal rights.
