Since the 1930s, American dog racing regulators have performed drug tests to racing greyhounds in order to maintain the integrity of races. Despite these efforts, drugging is endemic to the racing industry and violations are not sufficiently punished. Notably, there have been 847 reported drug positives, including 71 greyhound cocaine positives since July 2007. Additionally, there have been 83 drug-related violations, including the discovery of unauthorized syringes, injectable vials and other offenses.
