Dr. Andrea Gavinelli will lecture at the Master in Animal Law and Society in the Casa de Convalescència
On the upcoming 17th June 2013, starting at 3 PM, a class by Dr. Andrea Gavinelli in the Master in Animal Law and Society within the module of Animal Welfare in the European Union will take place in the Catalan modernist location of the Casa de Convalescència (Campus de la UAB, C/ Sant Antoni Maria Claret 171). The topic of the lecture will be: “General EU Legislation on Animal Welfare and the Decision Making Process.”
Andrea Gavinelli is an Italian veterinarian who has been an official civil servant in the European Commission since 1999 and is currently the head of the Unit of Animal Welfare in the Directorate General for Health and Consumers. Since 2001, he has been an active member in the “Working Group on Animal Welfare” of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and a member of specific work groups at the international level with business members of the European Union. Dr. Gavinelli is a member of the drafting council of the “FAO Gateway to Farm Animal Welfare”. Furthermore we have to honour to have him as a professor of the Master in Animal Law and Society from the very beginning.
We also invite you to join us for the break, which will take place at the end of the lecture in this unique location, which is part of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and was declared, with the whole hospital complex, Historical Artistic Monument in 1978 and World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Currently the Casa de Convalescència is the headquarters of the Foundation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and it allows us to host this incredible event.
